Iris Hummer é uma artista austríaca de Viena. Ela trabalha temas sobre tempo, movimento, metamorfose e transições, e preocupa-se com esculturas vestíveis que se conectam e interagem com o corpo. O seu trabalho inclui joias, performances, escultura e fotografia. É fascinada pelo processo e pela ambiguidade, que procura tornar visíveis para explorar porque as coisas são como são. Como joalheira, cria esculturas vestíveis, uma conexão entre a obra de arte e o corpo. Quando a joia é usada no corpo, ela entra em relação com quem a usa e transforma-se em joia durante a interação com o espectador. A sua inspiração artística vem desde a infância, influenciada pela formação artística da sua família, principalmente teatro de rua, pintura e artes circences. Estas experiências ensinaram-na a permitir a espontaneidade e a responder ao inesperado. O seu envolvimento com o objeto é sempre de investigação, experimentação e exploração. Abertura, curiosidade e uma abordagem lúdica são os motores cruciais que nunca forçam o resultado de um processo, mas estão abertos a ele.
Ela recebeu a sua Mag. Arte. na Universidade de Artes Aplicadas de Viena/A. Atualmente estuda Belas Artes e Joalharia em Idar-Oberstein/G e no Ar.Co – Centro de Arte e Comunicação Visual em Lisboa/P. Recentemente, ganhou um prêmio no Festival de Prata de Legnica 2023.
Iris Hummer is an Austrian artist from Vienna. She works on themes of time, movement, metamorphosis and transitions, and is concerned with wearable sculptures that connect and interact with the body. Her work includes jewelry, performances, sculpture and photography. She is fascinated by process and ambiguity, which she seeks to make visible in order to explore why things are the way they are. As a jewelry artist, she creates wearable sculptures, a connection between the artwork and the body. When jewelry is worn on the body, it enters into a relationship with the wearer and transforms into a piece of jewelry during the interaction with the viewer. Her artistic inspiration comes from her childhood, influenced by her family's artistic background, especially street theatre, painting and clowning. These experiences taught her to allow spontaneity and to respond to the unexpected. Her engagement with the object is always one of investigation, experimentation and exploration. Openness, curiosity and a playful approach are the crucial engines that never force the outcome of a process, but are open to it.
She received her Mag. Art. at the University of Applied Arts Vienna/A. Currently she is studying Fine Arts and Jewellery in Idar-Oberstein/G and at Ar.Co - Center for Art and Visual Communication in Lisbon/P. Recently she won a prize at the Silver Festival in Legnica 2023.
